Attachment Therapy
With Julie Gerber, MA, AMFT, APCC
My therapy training is grounded in attachment theory—the study of how our earliest relationships shape the way we connect today.
Do relationships feel harder than they should be? Do you grapple with low self esteem? Do the same patterns repeat even when you try to change them?
You might pull away when someone gets too close. Or feel stuck in cycles like conflict, mistrust, or disappointment. Sometimes a pattern shows up with partners, friends, family, or even at work.
Attachment therapy helps uncover how these patterns began so you can build relationships that feel safer, more stable, and fulfilling.
Clients Come To Me When They:
Fear closeness
Can’t trust others
Repeat relationship cycles
Fight with partners
Have dramatic friendships
Are distant from parents
Have low self esteem
Struggle at work
What Attachment Therapy With Me Looks Like
I am present and honest in sessions, sharing what I notice and helping you connect dots that may have been hard to see before.
Together we build a strong and steady relationship where you can safely explore your patterns, reactions, and expectations in relationships. Therapy with me is also fun and casual - cursing welcome!
We explore where your relational patterns began, often in early family relationships, and understand how they continue to influence your life today. Therapy becomes a place to experiment with new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Modalities I Use
-
Explores how early relationships shaped your expectations of closeness, trust, and safety with others.
-
Helps you understand different parts of yourself, including protective parts that developed to manage pain or rejection.
-
Identifies thought patterns that fuel self doubt, mistrust, or relationship conflict and replaces them with healthier responses.
-
Creates a collaborative environment where you feel understood, respected, and able to explore difficult experiences.
-
Focuses on the resilience and insight you already have so you can build stronger relationships going forward.
-
Recognizes how past experiences influence emotional safety, trust, and connection.
New Patterns,
Better Relationships
As you understand what to do with your patterns,
possibilities open up.
After Therapy With Me, Clients Report

Less fear of closeness
Easier conversations
Healthier relationships
More trust
Feeling more secure and content
About Julie Gerber, MA, AMFT, APCC
My work focuses on helping people understand how their relationships have shaped the way they see themselves and others. When we understand those patterns, real change becomes possible.
Before becoming a therapist, I was a California attorney, which provided me with unique insight into how challenging relationships can be, whether with family, friends, or professional colleagues. That path led me to therapy, where I now help clients untangle relationship patterns and build stronger connections with themselves and others.
My prior experience as an attorney also gives me a unique ability to help professionals manage the struggles that often accompany their jobs - challenging relationships at work or at home, work-life balance, and the anxiety that can accompany these high pressure positions.
Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, and easy to talk to. In our sessions, I aim to be an accurate mirror for what’s happening beneath the surface and help connect dots you may not have seen before.
I am also a mom to three boys and understand how tricky maintaining a work/life balance is (and avoiding burnout!). Outside of therapy, I enjoy running, reading, and listening to audiobooks on long walks.
Availability: I work with clients via Telehealth across California.
